Plain MkII action with large cocking indicator to the right side of the action struck with Birmingham Victorian black powder proof marks. Walnut stock with regulation steel furniture and MkII clearing rod. Barrel with Henry rifling and ladder rear sight graduated to 1000 yards is struck with Birmingham proof marks and engraved to the top FIELD RIFLE COMPANY BIRMINGHAM. Made to the regulation military pattern for sale to a target shooter or gentleman volunteer of the Victorian age. The Martini was used in the service rifle matches of the day conducted by the NRA and these better quality commercial guns were popular with the officers and men who could afford their own rifle. In very good condition with excellent bore and mechanics. Nice figured stock and much original finish to the barrel and action. A very good example of a commercial MkII rifle by one of the best of the Birmingham makers of the time.
